YOUR MONOPOLIZED
The monopoly update you are reading now is going to tell you who won it was a fine day when we played monopoly Kevin and Miss Cheeseman got bankrupt. Josh, Vikram and Louisa was left in the game we all had hotels on different properties. It was a close game but if we carried on it would take fifty million years. How Kevin got bankrupt was he landed on one of Louisa's properties [she had The City and Canary Wharf [the most expensive ones] and he didn't have enough money so he lost. We all thought Josh was going to win because he had 3 hotels on the green properties. But then the winner ended up being Vikram - because I had 3 hotels and heaps of people got sent to my properties!!!

THE FARMER BROWN EGG
This are the photo of the farmer brown egg.
I learnt to make the sticker stay on the egg from my dad.
First we carefully cut the stickers in to pieces and put it on the egg then I put it in the hot boiling water so it stuck.
It was so cool and it took 20minutes,but one egg cracked so we ate it.
The funniest thing was when we were going to eat it,the sticker didn't stretch so we had to cut it.

Louisa and Aaliyah's Camp Presentation
Camp was so fun, we enjoyed the games, activities and the food. Thank you for the parents and the teachers to make this camp of 2010 possible. Please enjoy this video we made.
Alex & Jae Yu's camp Keynote
JAE Yu Lee & ALEX KIM
We did hard jobs to make movie This keynote came from Jae Yu & Alex.
We are korean. BUT! Only we (Jae Yu & Alex) are the best!
We had no problems.
We worked very hard and we were arguing a bit about changing stuff.
We still made it better and better then than normal. We hope you watch the keynote and like it!
Enjoy!
Lady Gaga

On Saturday Rhiannon and Farah went to Lady Gaga's concert with thousands of people. Rhiannon and Farah had so much fun that when they got home they were sleepy. Lady Gagas concert was held at the Vector arena. The songs she had done where: Poker Face, Love Game, Bad Romance, Just Dance, Eh theres nothing else I can say, Naughty Boy, Telephone, Videophone, Uh Oh, and Paparazzi. The 5 dress's that we like are: Bubble Dress full of bubbles, Fireworks bra with fireworks flying in the air, pink space glasses for a space song Tornado dress for a tornado act Princess dress for a weird kid song. It smelt like fireworks because there where a lot of fireworks. We ate and drank: coke and water, hot fingers and chips. We both could see it well but we were watching it from the screens that were held all around us. The concert she made was called the Fame Monster. We hope Lady Gaga comes back to New Zealand again. Next day Lady Gaga made a comment on twitter and she said that all the people in Auckland are a bunch of idiots, we think her comment about Auckland wasn't very nice. We both thought the concert was very good though.

Dain and Izzy's Camp Movie
Today we did keynotes about Camp Bentzon. We had 5 different pages we had to include. They were... Something that made us laugh out loud, something new that we learnt, something new that we discovered about ourselves, something that scared us and something we found challenging. Isabella and I did 8 pages including the 5 pages, the title page and the two "thank you for watching" pages. We had to write at least one sentence to each of the 5 pages. We got some photos from the server then moved them to iphoto. Then, we moved them on to our camp keynote. When we had finished writing, putting photos on and all the extra stuff we wanted, we had to export it to quicktime player. It was very hard because we had to make the timing perfect and get the punctuation correct. It took us quite a long time to do it. Here's a slideshow of our finished work. Enjoy!

a trip to Ethiopia

Hello my name is Farhiyo . I went on a trip to Ethiopia. I went to see my sister in law because she had a baby boy . When I went there I didt get use to it because I left it when I was little but every one knows me . We stayed after a month then started an islamic school. At the islamic school we learnt quran witch is a bible for us it teachs us who our god is and his name witch is allah . What else l learnt was our religon rule's one of them is after the age of 9 you have to where a scarf because if boys see your hair its not right, its against our rules for our religion, but I am not sure why. Another rule is you need to pray at the age of 9 because it means you don't belife in allah if you dont pray but if you pray it means you do belife our religion but i stared at the age of 7 because i learnt quickly . The islamic school is on Monday to Thursday, and Thursday is a half day . After we stayed one month it was a special day for the muslims. So I and all my friends and cousins went to this big beautiful garden that was so green like green paint. When we got there we had some chips, drinks and burgers. Then we went to the slides and the monkey bars. When it got late we went home and my sister made us popcorn then we watched this move called 'shot it'.It was the best move . The next day we went shopping and i buyed a skirt and its t-shirt with shoes .On the other day my mum went shopping to buy clothes because like all other people that go on holiday but not men the buy clothes form a other places for muslim people and sale it her for money so my mum got some clothes because some of our cousins and friends and family said that they wanted clothes to buy so we got some clothes to buy .Then it was our last day and we had a good sleep .When it was morning we stared to pack up then when it was 3 clock we in the car and went to the airpot and had our last tomato sauce and chips at ethiopia .We said bye to every on and went into the airplane we stayed in the airplane for three hours then landed into dubia .I ran to the bed and called room survice i had hot choclate and cake .Then i went to sleep when it was morning i went down stairs to have something to eat after we ate we went to hop on the airplane and this time it was 5 hours .When we landed in brisbane then we stayed in brisbane 1 minute the went back in the plane and left brisbane and stayed on plane 3 or 4 hours and we were back home yeah yeah yeah .

Vancouver Facts

Vancouver is named after Captain Vancouver.
A resident in Vancouver is called Vancouverite.
Vancouver is probably the only place that you could ski, play golf and go sailing all in the same day.

Newspapers
last week we did a lot of stuff with newspapers. We read the newspaper, and leant new things out of the paper, and then we cut the stuff we learnt out of the papers. We looked at photos with sentences under them and found ones we found interesting and put them into our journal. Most of the people cut out a picture of this guy doing a cool trick while ice skating and then we had to write a story about the winter olmpics that is half a page using just a crazy headline. We also did a scavenger hunt - we had to find stuff that was a big bisness and a small bisness and furniture and things we can eat or throw away.
we talked about flags this week and what our flag means. we tried to work out which countries had which flags. we also talked about what it means to have a flag and why they look like it. we also did a class quiz on flags on the screen - this week we got 7 out 10 questions right.
Football practice

The rest of our photos from the football session can be seen here

Screen-Printing

Today we did screen painting with Mrs Shepherd. First, she showed us what to do.
Then, we drew our master plan. A master plan is the picture we want to trace, just like a normal plan. When we finished, we traced our plan. Then we cut out the traced bits that we wanted to print first with sharp cutters. We had to be very careful and reverse think - which is really hard to do.
We got to use the silk screen. We used textile ink to paint with. Our theme was about camp.
Next, we hung them up to dry. Isabella and I were doing kayaks.
After they dried, we traced some other parts of our master plan.
Next we did the second part of our theme and did the same thing again. We did the same thing again and again until there's one last step that is optional. (Which means that you don't have to do it) The optional step is to make a background, how you do that step is to cover with paper all the bits you drawed on your camp theme. After you do that you will use the silk screen and the textile paint again we sloshed it back and forth until we think the textile paint is on the A3 paper. (not newsprint) Now lift up the silk screen and newsprint and see what you get! A lovely surprise!
Thanks to Miss Cheeseman and Mrs Shepherd for organizing our class's special event!
There are some cool photos of us screen-printing on the summerland website.

James May Toy Story

James may is doing a new TV show called James May Toy stories he is doing cool things like: an air fix spitfire of a scale of 1 to 1, a whole garden of plastercine flowers, the worlds biggest slot car set, a lego house the size of a classroom and stuff like that. He gets old toys out of the cupboard and it shows you that they can be better than video games. It is on at 7.30pm on a Monday on TV3 - I really like it. See if you do too.

news paper
Yesterday we read the newspaper and we read that there was a head to head train crash in Belgium and 20 people died and it was very sad. The interesting section was the sports section because it had heaps of cool sports like cricket, skiing and soccer. Then we choose two pictures with a caption and then we had to say why we choose that picture then we had to cut out the two pictures we choose and the caption then glue them into our journal. Then we took out our sports news page from our newspaper then Miss Cheeseman asked us a few questions after that we cut out a list from the sports news page, what we had to do with the list is read a sports story from the newspaper and tick off what was on the list.
Watch out next week when we take some photos

Camp Bentzon On Kawau Island
We stayed at camp for 5 days and 4 nights. The food that Steve made was delicious, I liked lazana and chocolate moose the most. When we were going to get ready to do the burma trail we had 2 options do the burma trail or play spotlight. Most of the people did the burma trail. The Burma trail was freaky because we had to do it at night and it was pitch black. Some people that did the burma trail fell in ditch's because someone or something grabbed thier legs thats what happened to me. Miss Chesseman was playing spotlight and she was hiding with JD and JD was on above of Miss Chesseman up a tree and JD said if they don't find them soon he will need to go toilet and thats what made Miss Chesseman scared.
Sam and Josh's two favourite activity was kayaking and sailing . When we went kayaking we went to another island called survivor island when we went there we went snorkling and rock climbing in this cave there is a love heart. It was 1.4 km away from our camp. When we went sailing to another wharf it was hard because you have to keep the the sail behind your head.
The coolest thing about camp was swimming, because we could jump off the pontoon in the middle of the water.
We had heaps of fun. There are more photos on our school website - you can see them by clicking HERE and HERE
