The Olympic Mascots

Toby went to England for a holiday and bought back an Olympic mascot - he is called Wenlock - we discovered some information about the mascots and how they were designed.

Wenlock is an Olympic games cyclops mascot. He can shoot rainbows out of his hands and he can run on a rainbow wherever he goes. He wears the Olympic rings as friendship bracelets. His eye has a built in camera also a light on his forward head like the black London taxi lights. His head reminds about the three medals.

Jet boats.

Have you ever been on a jet boat?...On Friday the 13th my family and I went on a jet boat in Rotorua. The drivers name was Crash,not really, it was his nick name and it was Crash because he crashes most things.On the jet boat, Crash told us about the island in the middle of the lake and how deep the water was around it.Hundreds of years ago there were 3 thousand people that lived on the island,then the Maori war came and killed half the islands population the rest had escaped. After that they replanted the island and cleared all the pests and now it is a bird sanctuary.It is home to many native birds of New Zealand.The island is looked after by DOC. DOC means dept of conservaition.Some parts of the lake are natural springs and you can't find the bottom. And some parts are only up to your knee and it could be in the middle of the lake.On the ride when we were going to spin,Crash would put his hand up and wave it round and round.we were meant to hold on but I put my hands up and I would be sliding around but still it was fun.So if you go to Rotorua ask your parents if your family can go on the jet boats it is great fun trust me!!

Superhero Day!

 

On the 31st of May it was superhero dress up day for our topic super hero's  and comics. Most people dressed up as spider man, superman and batman.  Amiria won the top made up superhero outfitfor our class her name was Kitty Kid. Tiaan won the bought costume for our class he was spiderman. Jakob won the best original superhero [made up] his super hero name was DooMAN some other kid called Johny Rose came second place. We all had a parade and photos in the hall.

Luke made an amazing video as part of his Home Learning challenge - he seems to really enjoy cooking and has added some extra fun aspects to this video.

BP Class Challenge

On Wednesday, the kids in room 16 where spilt into groups for 2 and got given a box filed with interesting Stuff.  We had to build a tower the biggest tower and we all had a LEGO man that we had to put on the top of the tower. Everyone had 30 minutes. After we finish Miss Cheeseman measure them and Billy and Toby won. Second place was Xanthe and Mariah. The people that lost were  … Ryan and Isabella. 

It was fun and hard because there was small and big stuff and also because we didn't have anything like glue to glue it together.  We had to keep on trying because the problems were the tower was very wobbly because most of the stuff was skinny.

We ran the assembly this week and we decided to be pirates! Thankfully Toby had done a pirate invitation to Cap'an Weatherill so he came fully prepared in his pirate outfit! Everyone said we did a great job and it was a great assembly...arrrggghhh!

Turbo Touch

Today was our AWESOME Turbo Touch lesson. We had a lot of fun because it involves lots of different sports like Rugby, Touch, Netball & Basketball. I understood  the rules very well because there are only 3 rules & they are very easy. I think there should be 10 touches before handover. 1of the rules is you can not stand on the black mat cause it is off side & the second rule is that the ball can not be dropped or bonce and there has to be two passes be for a try.

I used the english to pirate translator app to figure out how to invite Mr Wetherell to our pirate assembly.

I made this card and wrote the message: Ahoy Cap'n Wetherell how's yer day?Do ye wants t' come t' our pirate gathering on Friday?If ye don't come I shall point the cannon at ye ARR!!
